Vice President of Development and Fund Raising

The Vice President of Development reports directly to the President and is responsible for planning and managing all aspects of SPST's development program. The Vice President will serve on the President's Executive Administrative Team and will coordinate the work of the school's development staff and volunteers in achieving goals relating to annual fund gifts, planned gifts, capital gifts, alumni/ae relations, gift recording and acknowledgement, development communications, and other functions assigned by the President. The Vice President will also develop a strategic and comprehensive action plan for achieving the financial and development goals of Saint Paul, including the continual expansion of the current donor base.

The ideal candidate will have: a significant track record of asking for and securing both large and small gifts and leading a complex development operation that includes personnel and data management, capital campaigns, the annual fund, planned giving, and the endowment; a collaborative working style that recognizes the importance of team work and delegates significant responsibilities to team members; an understanding of mainline Protestant church life and a willingness to commit to Saint Paul's ongoing ties to the United Methodist Church; proven interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective personal relationships in the fund raising process and generate an enthusiasm for the school's mission; and strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying to staff, volunteers, and other Saint Paul personnel how the development program contributes to institutional objectives, and to potential or current donors how the school serves the broader community.
