Dr. Carmelo Alvarez
Affiliate Professor of Church History and Theology,
Christian Theological Seminary
Carmelo Alvarez is Puerto Rican and is an ordained minister within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He received his Ph.D. from Free University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He received a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico, the M.Div. (Magna Cum Laude) from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, and did graduate work in Church History at Emory University. Carmelo and his wife Raquel Rodriguez were missionaries in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Chile for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was professor of Church History (1975-1992), Director of Admissions (1975-1978), and President (1978-1982) of the Latin American Biblical Seminary, San Jose, Costa Rica.
