Seminary Truman Road Campus Committee Announces Request for Proposals Process
Date: January 22, 2013
Saint Paul School of Theology was established in 1958 by the United Methodist Church. The school is one of 13 United Methodist seminaries whose primary charge is the education of local church ministers.
The school occupies a 19-acre campus on Truman Road approximately 4 miles directly east of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The campus contains 10 academic, residential, and support buildings, and a chapel. The buildings comprise a total area of approximately 217,000 square feet.
A reduction in the need for on-campus housing, lower enrollments and increasing property management costs have prompted school officials to plan the relocation of the schoolís primary academic activities to the campus of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. This relocation will occur prior to the beginning of the 2013-14 academic year.
The Board of Trustees and the school leadership are committed to ensuring the continued, active use of the Truman Road campus as an anchor of activity in Kansas City, Missouri and the surrounding neighborhoods. Saint Paul School of Theology is also committed to accommodating only those redevelopment and reuse proposals that match or complement the schoolís history and dedication to education, social justice and spiritual growth. To achieve this goal, a Request for Proposals has been prepared to generate redevelopment and reuse proposals from organizations interested in utilizing all or a portion of the site and structures.
A pre-submittal bidders conference and the opportunity to tour the campus and buildings will be held during the first week of February. Only qualified bidders may attend the conference. In order to qualify as a prospective bidder, please state, on your organizationís letterhead, your organizationís mission and intended use of the Truman Road Property. Letters of Intent will be reviewed by the Truman Road Campus Committee. Upon approval of your letter of intent, you will receive an invitation to the Bidders Conference and Tour.
For additional information please contact Leigh Precise at 816-245-4819 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Letters of Intent should be submitted to Ms. Precise at the email address above or mailed to her attention at 5123 E. Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64127.
