Saint Paul Board of Trustees Approve Next Steps in Collaboration
The Saint Paul School of Theology Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, to approve the next steps to move forward in an educational collaboration with the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. The goal of the venture is to create a new model in theological education that combines classroom instruction of the highest caliber with the practical wisdom of excellent ministry. The seminary will also welcome laity and staff of Church of the Resurrection into its educational programs.
Saint Paul School of Theology intends to begin teaching classes at the Church of the Resurrection in the fall of 2013. Resurrection will provide the seminary with classrooms, worship space in the Wesley Covenant Chapel, a library space, and common areas for various gatherings. In such a plan, the seminary's faculty, staff, and administrative offices will be located in the proximity of the Church of the Resurrection campus. A committee is being formed to address the future of the Truman Road campus.
"Saint Paul School of Theology collaborating with Church of the Resurrection signals a new vision for the seminary, a new era in theological education, and new opportunities for seminary students, clergy, and laity to immerse themselves in theological learning informed by excellent ministry practices," said Academic Dean Harold C. Washington.
