Summary of the Resurrection Scholars at SPST Program
-
CHL430 Leadership through Lay and Clergy Partnership: Exploring Partnership Models at The Church of the Resurrection (3.0 credits). Weekly 3-hour classroom instruction on Friday mornings at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri, featuring presentations from The Church of the Resurrection staff on topics such as church leadership, stewardship, governance, evangelism, pastoral care and discipleship. Drawing upon Resurrection's programs of ministry as an extended case study, students will learn how to integrate the processes, principles and theology of church leadership into a variety of ministry settings. The purpose of this course is (1) to gain skills in planning and administering ministries shared by laity and clergy as partners; (2) to identify and reflect on the possibilities of shared ministries in specific situations; and (3) to develop a theological rationale for the sharing of leadership responsibilities by laity and clergy in the church. This course is open to all students enrolled in SPST. Resurrection Scholars at Saint Paul School of Theology are required to take this course. Instructors: Dr. Robert Martin (SPST) and Rev. Nicole Conard (Resurrection).
-
IND 230 Independent Study: Church Leadership Service (0.5 Contextual Education credit). Linked to CHL430, Resurrection Scholars will meet for an additional hour to reflect critically and creatively on the integration of their coursework, internship and ministry. Instructors: Dr. Robert Martin (SPST) and Rev. Nicole Conard (Resurrection).
-
